Summer travel season is back, but with gasoline prices reaching upwards of $5 for most regions around the Empire State, it's getting tougher to stick to budgets. While fuel may have gotten more expensive, there are plenty of nearby attractions to enjoy on just a tankful from the city of Syracuse.

Spectrum News 1 has put together some gas-friendly getaways around New York state for the whole family to enjoy this summer.

Our sixth stop of the series is Sylvan Beach in Oneida County, which offers fun for the entire family and is a summer attraction that has to be on that must do list (especially if you have kids).

One-way trip: 37 min / 33.5 miles

For starters, there's the beach off Oneida Lake which includes a number of nearby restaurants. Right around the corner you can find the well-known amusement park which will keep the kids busy for hours.

It's also a great place to grab some ice cream and take in a spectacular sunset off the lake. The Oneida Indian Nation is giving folks more reasons to visit with the opening of the Cove. The vacation rental destination features 70 cottages with multiple bedrooms and living spaces.

Each rental comes with a boat while the Cove features grills, a heated pool and a playground.

The Cove also features a rental shop for lake activity rentals along with a store and cafe.
