Former President Donald Trump over the weekend was the guest star of a video posted online by Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney, offering his endorsement for the Central New York lawmaker ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.

It's yet another upstate House race that Trump is lending his voice to as he is considered a potential candidate to run again for the presidency in 2024.

"She's a fantastic woman, great conservative," Trump said the video standing next to Tenney at what appears to be Bedminster, the golf course in New Jersey that he owns.

Trump added he supports Tenney "all the way."

"She's tough, she's smart and she's a good person, so endorse her and be with her and love her because she's very special," Trump said.

Tenney is serving her second non-consective term in office after she was unseated in 2018 and regained the seat in 2020, defeating Democratic Rep. Anthony Brindisi.

Brindisi last week announced he would not run for the district in 2022. The district itself, which stretches from the Mohawk Valley to the Southern Tier region, is one of the more Republican and Trump-leaning districts in the state, though will likely be altered following the coming round of redistricting.

The Tenney seat is not the only district in upstate New York Trump is interested in: Earlier this month, he cheered the Onondaga County Conservative Party for declining to endorse Rep. John Katko's re-election. Katko was among the Republican lawmakers who voted for Trump's impeachment earlier this year following the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
