In addition to candidates, voters will have the opportunity to weigh in on five statewide proposals on Election Day this year.

Proposal 1 would amend the process that draws voting districts in New York.

In 2014, voters decided to create a commission to handle the process. This new amendment would address how the state's population is counted and how districts are established and represented in the future.

It would also make it easier for the commission to move forward by changing thresholds needed to approve or adopt new plans.

Information on all five proposals can be found here.
