CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Another Mother's Day is in the books, and people spent the day celebrating the important women in their lives.

  • Restaurants call it one of the busiest days of the year
  • Brunch Bill provides big business boost
  • 20 to 25 percent increase in revenue on Mother's Day

Many people took their mothers to brunch Sunday to celebrate.

Restaurants in Charlotte say this is one of the busiest days of the year, and at Tupelo Honey Cafe, they say they started taking reservations nearly two months in advance.

Another big business boost has been the new Brunch Bill, allowing for alcohol to be served before 12 p.m.

The bar staff says to avoid getting swamped, they prepare the drinks as early as they can.

"You know, we serve at 10, but we like to line it up. We'll number out those tickets, we'll start receiving them about fifteen minutes 'til," said Haley Shore, the beverage manager for Tupelo Honey. "That way we can get the glassware set, we have all the product right there, because we want to serve those guests who have been waiting patiently for that 10 o'clock hour."

The staff says they usually see a 20 to 25 percent increase in revenue on Mother's Day.
