NORTH CAROLINA -- The Tar Heel State has a promising job outlook for 2020 in Forbes' annual report predicting job opportunities for the coming year.

  • The list puts Winston-Salem in a four-way tie for sixth in the country
  • Charlotte tied for 9th on the list
  • Greensboro tied for 10th, alongside Raleigh

In its list of "Where the Jobs Will Be in 2020", Forbes used data from Manpower's Employment Outlook Survey, which assesses hiring plans of employers in America's top 100 most populated metro areas.

That list puts Winston-Salem in a four-way tie for sixth in the country, projecting a net employment outlook of 27 percent for the first quarter of the year.

That means when you combine the number of employers who plan to increase payrolls and the number who plan to cut, the difference is 27 percent in the plus column.

Charlotte tied for 9th on the list and Greensboro tied for 10th at 21 percent net employment outlook, alongside Raleigh.

Chattanooga, Tennessee was number one on the list at 34 percent.
