HENDERSON, N.C. — A couple in Henderson, N.C. brought the world of Downton Abbey to life this Christmas in a pretty sweet and impressive way.

It is not the typical gingerbread house you usually find sitting on the kitchen table. No, this incredible recreation of Highclere Castle boasts a sprawling estate complete with multiple levels, 178 windows, lights, trees, and all the holiday decorations.

According to a Facebook post by the house's creator, Tammy Campbell Noel and her husband Doctor Bob Noel, it took four double batches of gingerbread, seven mixer bowls full of royal icing, five batches of melted sugar, and countless hours to assemble this project.

But the Noels say they loved every second.

The mansion has been dubbed, "Gingerbread Abbey."
