GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- In this time of deep political division it can be difficult to find common ground in America, or between the U.S. and other countries.

  • Gastonia is the international sister city to Gotha and that bond has also created a brotherhood
  • Gotha and Gastonia recently celebrated 25 years of being sister cities and to honor that tradition, Gastonia now has a street named for it in Gotha

However, a Gaston County mayor is trying to bridge the gap between his town and one of America's closest allies.

Mayor Walker Reid of Gastonia and Mayor Knut Kreuch of Gotha call each other lifelong friends, even though they can't speak the same language.

 

 

Gastonia is the international sister city to Gotha and that bond has also created a brotherhood.

The bromance between the mayors inspires dozens of German students to travel to Gaston County, as exchange students.

Gotha and Gastonia recently celebrated 25 years of being sister cities and to honor that tradition, Gastonia now has a street named for it in Gotha.
