DURHAM, N.C. — Meals on Wheels of Durham is about to take a major step to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

After Friday, volunteers will stop delivering meals to senior citizens for two weeks. Until then, they're packing 5,000 meals to go out.

"So they shouldn't run out of food because we're delivering 10 days worth of food," says Executive Director Gale Adland.

Volunteers will still call their clients to provide companionship and any other needs.

After the two weeks are up, volunteers will deliver weekly meals only on Mondays.

Adland says she doesn't know when MOW will resume its normal delivery service.
