One dealership is having its best summers yet, as RV sales across the state and in the country are significantly better compared to last year.

The Camping World in Colfax is seeing exactly that. Sales manager Adam Maxwell told us, in his 25 years in the business, he's never seen anything like this. Adding, they are having trouble keeping their inventory up.

“I’ve got, on average, about 200 units and now I’m sitting on 50 right now, we sold 83 last month at this particular store, the month before we sold 85 and this is typically a 65 to 70 tops store that we sell, so we are up 15 to 20 units a month," Maxwell says.

Data shows they're not the only ones. The RV Industry Association found that 20 percent of people surveyed have become more interested in RV travel than flying, tent camping, cruises and hotel stays. Pam and Jerry Blackburn are looking to purchase a RV for that exact reason.

“When you’re going camping, technically you’re social distancing, you’re staying in your own house, you’re not staying in a hotel, where someone else has slept, you know how clean it is. I just feel safer in something I know is clean," Jerry says.

Those at Camping World in Colfax hope this is just the beginning, and that sales continue to increase over the next coming months. This is something Maxwell said they were surprised to see.

“Everything with COVID, of course, has slowed a lot of things down, it’s amazing to us how much people decided this is a great way to take your family and self quarantine, go on a trip," Maxwell adds.
