GARNER, N.C. — In early 2020, the Sanders family from Garner lost their belongings to a house fire.

Since, Annette Sanders, a single mom of seven, has been trying to pick up the pieces.

"I was just looking at, you know, I need a sofa, and that was it, that's all I really needed," Sanders says.

The Green Chair Project delivered an entire new living room set, including a kitchen table, chairs, and decorations to the Sanders home.

Annette's 10-year-old daughter, Gabby, also received a new bedroom set.

A typical day for workers at The Green Chair Project in Raleigh includes loading up the furniture truck to make deliveries to families in need.

"It means everything to me, it's actually a good feeling to know these families are receiving the help, and they are happy to receive this help. It warms my heart," says Travis Williams, a warehouse associate at The Green Chair Project. 

The Green Chair Project is a nonprofit that aids people facing homelessness, crisis, or hardships.

Each person or family who applies for help through The Green Chair Project receives a bath basket and an essential food kit.

"All the things they get in a bath basket include towels and a bath rug, shower curtains, and enough for everyone in the family," says Jackie Craig, executive director for The Green Chair Project.

The nonprofit has helped more than 11,000 families since 2010.
