Alexis Bell grew up in Newport News, Virginia, and with “news” literally in her hometown’s name, it’s no surprise Alexis knew she wanted to be a reporter from an early age.

After graduating from her high school's mass communications program, Alexis became a Tar Heel and graduated from UNC's School of Media and Journalism. In July 2018, she made the move a few hours south, officially joining the Spectrum News 1 coastal team.

She she has covered the coastal region of North Carolina, the Triangle area, and is now covering the Charlotte region, where she currently is the team's lifestyle and consumer reporter.

Alexis says her passion is making a difference in her community. Of the many stories she covers, Alexis is most proud to have helped launch The Little Things Matter franchise in 2020. The RTDNAC award-winning franchise exposes daily stereotypes and stigmas people face and encourages community members to be more accepting of other perspectives.

A proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and the National Association of Black Journalists, Alexis keeps herself busy in the community. In her free time, she likes to explore new restaurants and experiences, throw events for friends and family, and occasionally take a trip back to the coast to enjoy the beach.
