CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Knights announce they will remain the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox through 2030.

Thursday’s announcement by the team is part of baseball’s new player development structure.

The Knights have been an affiliate of the White Sox since 1999, which is one of baseball’s longest-standing relationships with a Major League partner.

“Our fans have had the opportunity to see the core of the White Sox current roster play at the nationally-renowned Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte,” the team said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing that tradition as the Sox compete for Central Division, American League, and World Series championships in 2021 and beyond.”

Major League Baseball is expected to release its structure and 2021 schedule in the coming days.

Once that information is released, officials say season membership holders, sponsorship partners, and other stakeholders will be contacted to finalize plans for the upcoming campaign.
