AKRON, Ohio — The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank has seen a tremendous increase in the number of people it serves as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.

The Foodbank held a drive-thru grocery distribution Thursday afternoon and gave out food to nearly 1,600 families.

For perspective, typically, up to 500 families receive groceries during its scheduled distributions. That's a 200 percent increase in demand.

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank serves the following eight counties: Summit, Stark, Wayne, Holmes, Medina, Tuscarawas, Carroll, and Portage.
