CINCINNATI — On Friday, organizers of the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati announced plans to hold an in-person race this fall, which will span three days.

This year’s Flying Pig will be held Oct. 29-31 in downtown Cincinnati.

The annual race draws thousnads of runners and spectators to downtown Cincinnati and provides an economic boost to the area's hotels and restaurants.

Friday’s announcement coincides with the Flying Pig’s virtual races, which are being held this weekend.

Here is the event schedule for the 2021 Flying Pig:

Oct. 29: One-mile run

Oct. 30: 10K, 5K and four-mile run

Oct. 31: Marathon and half marathon

Lifetime members and those signed up for the fall virtual race can register for the in-person races starting May 3. The general public can register for May 10.

While some major races in Ohio, like Columbus’ Capital City Half Marathon, have been made virtual for the second straight year, others like the Akron Marathon are forging ahead with plans for in-person events.

Brandon Hough, the director for the U.S. Air Force Marathon that is held at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, said Thursday he was “very confident” that the marathon would be held in person this fall.
