COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State is moving its vaccination site out of the Schottenstein Center Thursday and will begin offering COVID-19 shots at its East Hospital.

The Scottenstein Center vaccination site was launched in January to help make the jabs more accessible to people who had transportation issues or those who are in underserved communities.

Now that the influx of people looking to get the vaccine has decreased, they're moving the site to Ohio State East Hospital near the Woodland Park and Mt. Vernon neighborhoods.

Ohio State will continue to offer the vaccine at clinics in Upper Arlington, the Jesse Owens North Recreation Center on campus and at Ohio State Outpatient Care East. It's also offering the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for kids 12 to 15 following recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Adminisration.

Ohio State said it will continue to mandate masks for patients and visitors at all health care facilities.

In late January, nearly 445,000 Ohioans received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to state data. As of Wednesday, more than 5.2 million Ohioans have received the first dose and 4.85 million are fully vaccinated.
