MASON, Ohio — Kings Island is going cashless later this month.

Starting in mid-July, the park will not accept cash as payment. Cashiers will only take credit cards and most debit cards as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

"By going cashless, we are able to conduct contact-less transactions, and it’s faster, safer and always secure," the park said in a release.

With the decision, Kings Island has joined a statewide trend. Other major attractions, including the Cincinnati Reds and Columbus Crew, are only using contactless transactions.

Customers can also convert cash ($5 to $500) to a prepaid card at one of the Cash-to-Card kiosks located throughout the park. Any funds left on the card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted, according to the park.

There is no fee for the use of the kiosks.
