CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Orchestra announced it's bringing back two canceled 2020 shows to Blossom Music Center: "Lord of the Rings" and "Harry Potter."

The orchestra will accompany the screenings during the summer of 2022 with a live performance during the films. From July 22-24, guests can catch "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," which is the first film in the franchises. The Blossom Festival Chorus and Cleveland Orchestra Children’s Chorus will also be a part of this concert. 

Then on Aug. 20 and Aug. 20, the orchestra will perform "Harry Potter: The Chamber of Secrets," the second film in the series, which will be accompanied by the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus.

A presale started Tuesday for those who purchased tickets for the canceled 2020 season or who are current and recent subscribers to the 2021 Blossom Music Festival season and 2021-22 Cleveland Orchestra season.

"In 2016, CineConcerts and Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced the Harry Potter Film Concert Series, a global concert tour celebrating the 'Harry Potter' films. Since the world premiere of 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone' in Concert in June 2016, more than 2 million fans have enjoyed this magical experience from the Wizarding World, which is scheduled to include over 1,295 performances across more than 48 countries worldwide through 2021," the Cleveland Orchestra wrote in a press release. 

The orchestra said the complete 2022 Blossom Music Festival season, including classical and additional pops offerings, will be announced early in 2022.

As for COVID-19 protocols, the Cleveland Orchestra said it is working with the Cleveland Clinic and other health officials to ensure safety for patrons. Updated guidance is expected to be released in the spring before the season begins.
