All remaining performances “A Christmas Carol” at the Wyly Theater have been canceled. A cast member tested positive for COVID-19 despite following protocols
“It’s unfortunate, but CDC and our own COVID-19 safety guidelines have shown cancelling the remaining performances of A Christmas Carol is the safest thing for everyone. The health and safety of our artists, staff, and patrons has always come first,” managing director Jeff Woodward. “This is heartbreaking for us. We’ve worked hard to put this production together and we know people have enjoyed seeing A Christmas Carol on our stage again. We’re already looking forward to next season.”
Guests who had tickets to the canceled performances will receive a complimentary digital viewing of “A Christmas Carol” to experience the show remotely. Ticket holders will be contacted by the Dallas Theater Center Box staff with the option to exchange or donate their tickets or receive performance credit or a refund.
The next production, “Our Town,” is still scheduled to debut Jan. 27 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.

DALLAS — Not to be a Scrooge during the holiday season but Dallas Theater Center is canceling performances of the Charles Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol” at the Wyly Theater for the rest of the week and next Tuesday.
Despite their efforts to maintain COVID-19 protocols, a company member has tested positive for coronavirus.
“We are disappointed to be cancelling any ‘A Christmas Carol’ performances. However, the Actor’s Equity Association and Center for Disease Control guidelines indicate cancelling these shows is the best course of action to keep Dallas Theater Center patrons, artists, and staff as safe as possible during this uncertain time,” said Jeff Woodward, managing director.
The theater hopes to resume performances next Wednesday, Dec. 22. All staff members and artists at the Dallas Theater Center are required to be vaccinated. Any guests over the age of 12 must have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the show or proof of vaccination to enter the premises, as well as wear facemasks at all times.
“A Christmas Carol” will be performed at the Wyly Theater through Dec. 26.
Dallas Theater Center isn’t the first to cancel performances due to COVID-19. Late November, a breakthrough case of COVID among the “Hamilton” cast also forced cancellation of a performance at the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas.
