The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office has arrested two people from Poughkeepsie after the couple allegedly snorted heroin before driving to a Dunkin Donuts with a child in the car.

Police were called to the Dunkin Donuts in White Lake for reports of a man and woman falling asleep in the store with a young child.

Deputies say Cristina Szewczyk and Steve Wood snorted heroin before going into the Dunkin Donuts with Szewczyk's 6-year-old niece in the car.

The sheriff's office says Szewczyk has been charged with aggravated DWI under Leandra's Law and endangering the welfare of a child.

Officials say Wood has also charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Wood was previously wanted for petit larceny in South Carolina.

Authorities say both were arraigned in Town of Bethel Court.

The child was returned to her parents unharmed.
