Meet the team that will represent Texas in the "Spectrum News Challenge."

Esmee

High school: Crockett High School

Accomplishments: Esmee plays percussion in her school band and has participated in the Austin Youth Orchestra. She advanced to regionals in a statewide competition in guitar and history.

Fun fact: Esmee loves to cook. Her specialties include four-cheese pasta and homemade German chocolate cake.

Shivani

High school: Frisco High School

Accomplishments: Shivani has been a straight-A student her entire high school career. She’s a National Youth Storyteller — one of only 10 in the country, and a published author.

Fun fact: Shivani is an aspiring entrepreneur who already owns a business that takes scrap materials and creates tote bags.

Lilith

High school: Ann Richards School For Young Women Leaders

Accomplishments: Lilith is a self-professed political junkie who has competed in the state’s interscholastic league. She’s a member of the school’s marching band in color guard, and part of choir that has performed at South by Southwest and Austin City Limits.

Fun fact: Lilith loves cats.
