LOS ANGELES — Curated by the Getty Research Institute’s Idurre Alonso, the exhibition also includes artistic “interventions” by Denilson Baniwa, an indigenous artist from the Amazon region of Brazil.

The show looks at the work of European chroniclers, illustrators and printmakers from the 16th to 19th centuries by offering a multi-perspectival approach.

Artist Denilson Baniwa was invited to create a large-scale chalk mural chronicling the Baniwa people’s history of colonialism.
