LOS ANGELES — The COVID-19 pandemic has inflicted financial strain on the Los Angeles community.

As a result, the L.A. Dodgers Foundation partnered with RWQuarantunes to host a star-studded virtual event to benefit the most vulnerable Angelenos.

"As the 2020 ESPN humanitarian team of the year, the Dodgers Foundation is tackling the most pressing problems facing Los Angeles with a mission to improve education, homelessness, healthcare, and social justice for all Angelenos” said Dodgers Foundation CEO Nichol Whiteman.

Despite the physical and emotional strain, plus the uncertainty that this year has presented to L.A., the foundation continues to show up for the community. To date, the LADF has invested over $32 million into community programs and over $23 million in grants to nonprofit organizations over the last seven years.

The LADF and RWQuarantunes' partnership resulted in raising over $1 million, which provided over 3.3 million meals to those facing food insecurity in L.A. Streamed live from Dodger Stadium and hosted by WME’s Richard Weitz with his daughter Demi, the event included performances by notable musicians and appearances from celebrities, as well as Dodger legends and current players including Cy Young award winner and newly signed pitcher Trevor Bauer.

Along with Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, Dodgers co-owner Magic Johnson welcomed Bauer to the organization and donated $50,000 during the event. Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager joined the virtual event to relive the team’s 2020 World Series championship and express his appreciation for fans' support.

Country music artists Dan + Shay performed their hit song "Glad You Exist" and were joined by Dodger outfielder Mookie Betts. Richard Weitz then announced that the LADF would auction off a 2020 World Series ring to benefit the cause.
