If you've seen the huge Randy's donut in Inglewood or buildings shaped like a giant hot dog or a bull dog, you've seen novelty structures known as 'programmatic architecture.'

Los Angeles was a trendsetter in this area and if you look hard enough you can still see some examples around the city.  SoCal Scene correspondent Alison Martino has all the vintage details on the buildings and where to find them.
