SoCal's theme parks are not fully back quite yet. While we anxiously await the limited return of those in April, here are a few things to do there right now to whet your appetite.
Theme park activities this weekend
Taste of Universal gives guests access to shops and outdoor dining and to the upper lot of Universal Studios Hollywood – including "World of Harry Potter."
A Touch of Disney will help you rediscover some of the sights, sounds, and flavors within select outdoor areas of Disney's California Adventure Park.
Knott’s Taste of Boysenberry Festival offers — you guessed it— everything boysenberry you can imagine, including bites, treats, and drinks you can’t find anywhere else. Our own Melvin Robert will check it out and give us a full report next week.
And remember, even though there are no rides open yet, you must still purchase tickets in advance online.
Here's what else is going on
If you’re heading to the Santa Monica Pier, check out Secret Story Tour — an interactive mobile app that allows users to solve location-based puzzles to unlock secrets and untold stories of the Pier, which is now open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. It's a great way for the whole family to learn about the pier's 111-year history and to snap some cool pics along the way at one of Southern California’s most popular landmarks.
Donut Life is exactly what it sounds like— a pop-up experience in Orange County that will definitely give your Instagram shots a sugar-high. Don’t take your sweet time, though – it’s a limited time experience that you donut want to miss out on!
Hot 8 Yoga can help you get your sweat on safely outside by hosting yoga classes with a skyline view from the rooftop of ROW DTLA. Sign up is online and all equipment is provided. Just remember to bring your mask!

The Getty Museum presents a virtual reading of Pandora – a theatrical retelling of the first human female to appear in Greek mythology — and what would happen if she was dropped into the middle of the world now.
Cal Tech Live presents the film adaptation of the popular stage play A Weekend with Pablo Picasso online this weekend. Based on the artist's actual writings, this one-person show details what a weekend might have looked like inside Picasso’s studio as he draws, paints, and sculpts in an eccentric fashion to unfold a fascinating story of what some call the first “rock star” artist.
And finally, one newly released movie to stream this week
It’s hard to believe it’s been exactly two years since the reports of the college admission fraud shocked the world. Now Netflix is premiering Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandals – a documentary that uses real conversations from FBI wiretaps and re-enactments to offer a rare glimpse into the characters and the wealthy families who tried to cheat the system, and ultimately paid the price.
