CHATSWORTH, Calif. – In the midst of sports cancellations due to Coronavirus concerns, the California Interscholastic Federation canceled the high school state basketball championships that were supposed to take place in Sacramento's Golden 1 Center on March 13 and 14.

Among the southern teams that were excited to play for a state crown were the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers.

After a season that included constant travel, constant media attention, and a wild buzzer beater to win the regional finals, the Trailblazers, 30-4, were looking ahead to the championship game with confidence.

Senior Terren Frank is one of the athletes who will not get another shot at a state championship ring.

“I would have got another one of these but we couldn’t go to state due to Corona,” said Frank.

His high school career closes with plenty of accolades, but he could have been the first ever to win three CIF Open State Championships.

Instead, a jam-packed season came to an abrupt close.

"It's been a long road through high school. It's bittersweet being over now," says Terren as he packed up his locker.

While it was a disappointing way to close the season, the Sierra Canyon Athletics Department understood the big picture and values the prioritization of safety.

With talented youth on the roster, the Trailblazers have a promising future. Although Terren Frank won't be on the roster, he has bigger things to look forward to as a future member of the Texas Christian University Men's Basketball team.
