LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Thursday for the eighth consecutive day, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $5.84, one day after rising four-tenths of a cent.

The average price has risen 6.6 cents over the past eight days following a run of 28 decreases in 30 days totaling 29.6 cents, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.2 cents more than one week ago and $1.733 higher than one year ago, but 12 cents less than one month ago.

The Orange County average price rose for the seventh time in eight days, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $5.784. It rose four consecutive days, decreased seven-tenths of a cent Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.

The Orange County average price has risen 7.3 cents over the past eight days, including three-tenths of a cent Wednesday. It is 6.4 cents more than one month ago and $1.712 higher than one year ago, but 12.8 cents less than one month ago.
