BARDSTOWN, Ky. — National Bourbon Day is June 14 and the city of Bardstown, which is known as the 'Bourbon Capital of the World' is celebrating. Virtually.
Bardstown, Kentucky is home to ten unique bourbon distilleries within 16 miles of the city's downtown, and normally every year on June 14, there is a massive celebration of National Bourbon Day. But, this year due to coronavirus concerns, the celebration has moved virtual.
"We've had so many struggles over the past several months and our businesses have struggled, our distilleries are still going strong and not only though, they've given us so much back. They've turned some of their manufacturing to making hand sanitizer to keeping the community, people all over the state and outside of the state healthy and safe. And because of that, our hearts grew even bigger for bourbon and we decided to move forward with hosting National Bourbon Day, because of all the good they have done for us over the years," explains Samantha Brady, Executive Director of Bardstown-Nelson County Tourism.

Bardstown is also home to the three-day Kentucky Bourbon Festival. The dates for this year's event are October 15-18. There's no word yet if that festival will still be held as scheduled or hosted virtually.
