Chris Havely is a meteorologist at Spectrum News 1 and has been with the station since 2018.

Chris is originally from the north Indianapolis suburb of Noblesville, Indiana.  His interest in weather began as early as he can remember, when he would sit on his front porch and be fascinated by lightning and thunder as storms rolled across the Indiana skies.

In 2012 he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and Climatology from Ball State University, and is now a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society.

As an on-air meteorologist, Chris worked in Dothan, Alabama for WTVY from 2013 to 2015, and in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at KCRG from 2015 to 2018.  During his time in Iowa, Chris forecast and experienced some of Mother Nature’s most intense weather phenomena, from blizzards, to floods, to tornado outbreaks.  He has also spent time storm chasing in the Great Plains, for both reporting and educational purposes.

In his free time, Chris enjoys the experiences that Kentucky’s bourbon scene offers.  He also loves trying new restaurants and enjoying old classic Kentucky staples.
