Ashley Brown joined Spectrum News 1 Kentucky in April 2021 and is enjoying her time telling the stories of the commonwealth.

Ashley attended Troy University and graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism. While there she was a reporter, anchor and weatherperson for TrojanVision News and a staff writer for the Tropolitan.

Ashley launched her reporting career in her hometown, the peanut capitol of the world, Dothan, Ala., at WTVY in 2019. She started as an intern and transitioned into a multimedia journalist, working alongside the news team she grew up watching. During her time there she covered everything from severe weather damage to elections to human interest stories. While it’s hard to pick, one of her favorite stories was covered on a one-week assignment in Lake Charles, La., to assist a sister station following damage and devastation caused during Hurricane Laura. She ran into a private chef who had also traveled six hours from Dothan and slept in his van with his grill in the back to cook for the many families who were without power for weeks.

In her free time, she enjoys crafting, reading classic novels, and listening to Sam Smith. Ashley's favorite channel growing up was the Game Show Network. She credits Wheel of Fortune for teaching her the alphabet. The number one item on her bucket list is to compete on a game show.
