KENTUCKY —  Mike Harmon, R, was sworn in as Kentucky’s 47th Auditor of Public Accounts on Jan. 4, 2016, and won re-election for a second and final term in November 2019.

Now, Harmon says he is considering entering the 2023 Republican Gubernatorial primary to challenge incumbent Andy Beshear, D, who said he intends to seek re-election.

"Yes, I am leaning heavily towards that direction. Now I've thought about it, prayed about it and feel kind of led in that direction. You know, I think that the people of Kentucky want a governor, well, first they don't want a governor to use the state police as big brother to, you know, check out churches, you know, church goers going to church. I was very disappointed in that action from our current governor," explained Harmon.

Previous to his current statewide office as auditor of public accounts, Harmon previously served in the Kentucky House of Representatives for 13 years representing Boyle and Casey Counties, and previously Washington County, in the 54th District.
