GUSTON, Ky. — Joyce Scobee was loved by everyone who knew her. She not only cared about her own family but others she met at church.

Scobee was an active member of Hill Grove Baptist Church. She lost her husband of 52 years, Duewy Dean Scobee to cancer in 2016. It was then that she leaned on her church family even more. She was very active with the Silver Bells Widow Group.

In her obituary, her family wrote that she had many interests but loved sewing and quilting most of all.

Governor Andy Beshear honored Joyce at this April 14 briefing. Beshear said, "Joyce and her family are a perfect example that the statistics I read are more than numbers – they are Kentucky families and communities who have lost a loved one."

“She loved everyone and everyone loved her,” Joyce’s daughter Laura told The News-Enterprise.

Joyce is survived by her four children and two grandchildren.
