LEXINGTON,Ky.- Amazon is now offering on-site COVID-19 vaccinations in Kentucky for their front-line employees. 

The company started this initiative on Tuesday and has already vaccinated thousands of their employees within the first few days. 

Amazon employees in Kentucky now have the opportunity to get vaccinated while at work. 

Andre Woodson, spokesperson for Amazon says on Tuesday, the Amazon sites across the state in Hebron, Lexington, and Shepherdsville launched their on-site COVID-19 vaccinations. 

“This is an important initiative, not only for the health and safety of our employees but also for the communities where our teams live and work,” Woodson said.

Amazon employees are encouraged to make an appointment but walk in’s are also accepted throughout the day.

Woodson says having the opportunity to get vaccinated at work, may encourage more employees to receive the vaccine because of the convenience. 

“It’s super convenient for our associates. They don't have to leave the facility to receive vaccine,s in fact we have them on-site and they can check-in and then they're assigned a seat and wait and the clinician will speak to them and then obviously administer their shots so it's been really great and we continue to obviously scale that and roll that out across the country,” Woodson said.

Woodson says Amazon would like their employees to get vaccinated to not only keep themselves safe but also their community. 

Vaccinating on-site also gives those who may not have the access to other vaccine locations, the opportunity to get the shot. 

“Getting access to both vaccines and vaccine sites has been pretty challenging for front line employees and so by offering vaccinations on-site, you know we're aiming to make it easier and faster for employees to get vaccinated,” Woodson said.

Woodson says over the last few days, thousands of Kentuckians have taken advantage of the on-site clinic. 

“We're just getting started so we'll continue to roll it out, and again this will be eligible for over 18,000 of our front line employees that are working across Kentucky,” Woodson said.

Along with Kentucky, Amazon has also launched on-site vaccine clinics in Missouri, Nevada, and Kansas. 

The Kentucky on-site vaccination clinic plans to continue over the next couple of months to give employees the opportunity to schedule appointments.
