What You Need To Know

  • Lady Houdini’s show has been dubbed one of the most dangerous escape acts in the world

  • Performing at Bluegrass Fair in Lexington at Masterson Station Park through this week

  • The show is included free with paid general admission to the fair

One of the main attractions for this year's fair is Kristen "Lady Houdini" Johnson and she is considered by some in her industry, as the world's top female extreme escape artist.

"I was just fortunate enough to be in an industry where there are not a lot of females that are even hobbyists at what we do," explains Johnson.

Lady Houdini, says the name given was given to her by an Inside Edition producer at CBS Studios after she broke Harry Houdini's record for the most water torture cell escapes ever performed. To date, she is currently over 1,950 attempts and counting.

"We start our show with me hanging 30 feet in the air, I get out of a street jacket, and then fast rope down. We have an another escape that I do with an audience member and then we finished with a full view Water Torture Cell, where I get handcuffed, chained, shackled and dropped into 140 gallons of water, and you get to watch the entire time as I escaped because there's no curtain," add Johnson

The Lexington Lions Club wraps up the 59th annual Bluegrass Fair at Lexington’s Masterson Station Park this weekend which includes new thrill and kiddie rides and Carnival games, along with nightly live music, exhibits and all your Fair-food favorites in a clean, family-friendly, alcohol-free environment.

Gates open at 5 p.m. on weekdays and at 3 p.m. on weekends.
