LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Wild nights with Wild Lights are back at the Louisville Zoo beginning March 18 through June 5, 2022.

“Wild Lights” is one of the largest lantern festivals in the country. The exhibit is a 1.4 mile display of over 70 larger-than-life illuminated pieces of art. Over 50,000 LED lightbulbs light up 2,000 silk-covered pieces.

Visitors to the Louisville Zoo will be see expert craftsmanship along with celebrating the rich heritage of the lantern artisans. Colorful peacocks, snakes and butterflies are just a few of the insects and animals featured in Wild Lights. Zoo guests will also become part of the fun at the exhibit by hopping on the moonlight swings or going inside an over-the-top kaleidoscope.

Animal lanterns, including birds, insects, mammals and a 98-foot-long dragon are also part of the show along with other mythical Chinese creatures. There are several interactive photo opportunities for guests. They included illuminated angel wings, color-changing swings and much more.

According to a release from the Louisville Zoo, Wild Lights is a partnership with Tianyu Arts & Culture Inc., an international event design company. Tianyu has produced 62 lantern events in 38 cities, welcoming over 4.5 million of visitors. 

The festival will take place 6:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday nights March 18 - June 5 and daily from April 4-8.

Tickets are available online. Zoo members can buy them in advance online for $17 per guest age 3 and over. Non-members can buy general admission tickets early, also online, for $20 per guest age 3 and over. Children 2 and under are free. The zoo is also selling Family Four Pack tickets for $55 for members and $65 for non-members. A $6 parking fee will be added to every online ticket order.
