State fair organizers on Tuesday announced that First Responder's Day will be held Sunday, Aug. 28 this year. Active first responders and their families can get free admission with valid proof of employment.

There's a four-pass limit and parking is not included as part of First Responder's Day, the state fair said in a news release.

"The work [first responders] do in our communities across the Commonwealth is essential and irreplaceable," said David Beck, president and CEO of Kentucky Venues. "It's the least we can do to say thank you for their heroic service."

This year's fair also features new areas including Rescue Ridge, the 9/11 Never Forget exhibit and Kentucky Fire & Rescue, which further highlight the state fair's commitment to honoring first responders in Kentucky.

Besides free admission, first responders and their families can purchase Thrill Ville wristbands for 20% off at the Kissel Welcome Center. There is a limit of six wristbands per family.

Advance tickets can still be purchased online, which grant fairgoers access on any of the 11 days and includes free parking. If you're buying tickets at the gate, they'll cost $10 per person and you'll pay $10 to park.
