MILWAUKEE (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- Virtual learning is the new normal across the country and the world.  It can be difficult to navigate, especially for students and teachers who have formed a close bond.

Wisconsin Lutheran College’s class of 2020 chose to give back to those who have cultivated their education for the last four years.

“I was just trying to figure out some way to fill my time and make an impact on people and one night, I just came up with the idea,” says senior Joshua Murphy.  “Why not thank all of our teachers at WLC?”

It was Murphy’s idea.  What he didn’t realize was how many of his fellow seniors would want to participate.  Also, how many views his video would have on YouTube.  As of Friday, it’s over 1,000.

“It’s so amazing to see how many people were impacted that we never even expected to impact,” Murphy says.

Nursing student Megan Herkstroeter jumped at the opportunity.  She had Murphy are friends.

“The only challenging part was I didn’t know how I was going to fit everything I wanted to say in such a short amount of time,” says Herkstroeter.

Dr. Rhoda Wolle is the Dean of Student Success and Assistant Professor of Education.  She got emotional talking about seeing the video for the first time.

“I opened up my email and there were tears,” Wolle says.  “It was incredible to think these students were that thoughtful and that kind.”
