Courtny Gerrish has called Wisconsin home for 15 years, and has been a dedicated, empathetic member of our team since 2019. Courtny is an Emmy-nominated, award-winning journalist who has spent time reporting throughout the midwest. As she puts it, you can't beat living by the lake!

For Courtny, the great storytelling she does at Spectrum News 1 is important because it connects communities by exposing people to new ideas they may not have experienced before. She will always take the time to learn about someone else's journey. One of those meaningful stories she covered was the proposal and passing of Lydia's Law. Courtny followed Sally Schaeffer, from Burlington, for two years. Sally's daughter, Lydia, suffered from a rare seizure disorder and died in her sleep. She was not able to get access to the CBD treatments she needed. Sally fought for CBD oil treatments in Wisconsin and D.C., so other families would never have to know her pain. In 2013, Lydia's Law passed in Wisconsin.

When Courtny is not anchoring our midday show, you can find her and her husband cheering on their two young boys at soccer games. When they get the chance, Courtny and her family love exploring trails, biking or even checking out new ice cream spots. They never pass up a summer trip to Door County for camping and fishing. Of course, they always stop at Door County Confectionery in Fish Creek.
