MILWAUKEE— Doctor Nancy Goranson, a psychologist at Rogers Behavioral Health West Allis Campus, joined anchor Sachelle Reed to talk about mental health resources available to people in Wisconsin.

In the interview, Goranson answered the following questions:

  • Why have suicide rates spiked, not just in Wisconsin, but across the nation?
  • When someone is looking for treatment with regards to suicidal thoughts, what should they be looking for?
  • Are there enough mental health professionals and facilities to meet the needs of Wisconsinites?
  • What do you do if you know someone who is considering suicide?

There are several resources out there for help. We’ve gathered a complete list here.

If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

You can also call 2-1-1 to learn about mental health resources in your community.
