MILWAUKEE — Each year, Summerfest attracts a wide range of talented performers to play its multiple stages, including the American Family Insurance Amphitheater.

The amphitheater recently received a $53 million renovation in November of 2019, and will host its first Summerfest shows in September since the overhaul.

With that in mind, here’s who’s playing the Big Gig’s top stage in 2021.

Sept. 1 @ 5:30 p.m.

Green Day

Fall Out Boy

Weezer

This trio of punk and alternative rock legends will open Summerfest in 2021. This performance will be part of a larger tour all three acts will be participating in, the Hella Mega Tour, which will span the United States and Europe over the next two years. 

Sept. 2 @ 7:30 p.m.

Luke Bryan

Dylan Scott

Country pop stars will take the stage on the second night of Summerfest. Bryan recently released his seventh album, “Born Here Live Here Die Here,” in April of 2021, and has amassed 26 no. 1 hits throughout his career.

Chance the Rapper

Teezo Touchdown

DJ Oreo

The third night of the festival looks to feature rappers and hip-hop heavily. Chance the Rapper, winner of 3 Grammys, will be joined by three other acts throughout the night, including young up-and-comers like 24kGoldn.

Twenty One Pilots

Musical duo Twenty One Pilots will join Summerfest this year at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on Sept. 4, according to a press release. The performance will be Twenty One Pilots’ first show since their last tour ended in 2019. The duo recently released their new album, Scaled and Icy, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top “Rock Albums” and “Alternative Albums” charts.

Jonas Brothers

Spencer Sutherland

Returning from a six-year hiatus, the Jonas Brothers took the world by storm in 2019 with the release of their triple-platinum single “Sucker.” The trio of brothers also recently starred in “Chasing Happiness,” and Amazon original about their return to music.

Sheryl Crow

Chris Stapleton

These two country stars have fourteen Grammy award wins between them. Crow, who has charted 40 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 over her career, brings a sizable discography to the stage. The same can be said for Stapleton, who has written over 170 country songs as of 2018.

Zac Brown Band

Gabby Barrett

The Zac Brown Band has gone multi-platinum over their career, including 3 Grammy wins, for their blend of country, rock and other genres of music. Gabby Barrett is a younger face in the genre, making her debut on “American Idol” in 2017 as a teenager, but has risen to prominence recently, going 5x Platinum on her song “I Hope.”

Dave Chappelle

While Summerfest has a long tradition of comedians performing at the festival, Dave Chappelle will break tradition by becoming the first comedian to play on the main stage. Dave Chappelle, one of the most famous and controversial comedians of his era, has enjoyed a recent career resurgence with the release of multiple new specials.

Dave Matthews Band

This jam band, which has garnered a reputation for its live shows, will bring its tradition of playing differently at each live show to Summerfest as the only solo musical headliner of the year.

Megan Thee Stallion

Polo G

Megan Thee Stallion, who has skyrocketed to the top of the charts over the last few years, will perform with Polo G. The “WAP” and “Savage” rapper arrives hot on the heels of winning 3 Grammys, including Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.

Sept. 17 @ 7:30 p.m.

Miley Cyrus

The Kid LAROI

Miley Cyrus will perform with The Kid LAROI on the second-to-last night of Summerfest. Cyrus, whose sound has changed greatly over her career, including country, pop, rock and punk, has released seven albums so far and is one of the best-selling artists of all time.

Sept. 18 @ 6:00 p.m.

Guns n’ Roses

Mammoth WVH

Rock legends will close out this year’s Summerfest, with Guns n’ Roses bringing their award-winning discography to the stage. Meanwhile, Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of the late legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen, will bring his first solo project to the stage, having previously played with Van Halen and other rock acts.
