MADISON, Wis.— Calling all nature lovers: The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has good news for you.

You can purchase a 2022 state park and forest admissions pass starting Nov. 26.

“We are excited to offer admission stickers and trail passes earlier this year and look forward to welcoming visitors to our state parks, forests and trails for a post-Thanksgiving Day adventure,” said Steve Schmelzer, DNR parks director. “Visitors can celebrate the new year a month early by purchasing admission stickers online, at state park and forest properties or over the phone."

Stickers and passes will be valid from date of purchase through Dec. 31, 2022.

Vehicle stickers grant admission to more than 60 state parks, forests and recreation areas around the Badger State, including thousands of miles of trails and dozens of beaches. If you do not have a sticker on your vehicle, you will not be able to visit state parks and recreation areas this year.

State trail passes, which are required for anyone 16-years-old and up, grant access to biking, in-line skating, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and off-highway motorcycling on some state trails. If you're only planning to walk or hike, you won't need to get a pass.

Wisconsinites can get vehicle stickers for $28. If you do not have Wisconsin plates, you can get a vehicle sticker for $38. Discounts are available for multi-car households and seniors. Trail passes are $25.

If you need your sticker or pass for the holiday, DNR urges you to purchase them by Dec. 10.
