MILWAUKEE — If you're looking for a show to put you in the holiday spirit, a group of Milwaukee creatives is putting on "Black Nativity" by Langston Hughes.

The popular Christmas-themed theater production comes with a twist; it's based in Milwaukee, instead of Bethlehem. It also has all Milwaukee talent. It also features music, dance, and poetry from the African diaspora.

Director Dimonte Henning said the play uses present day life to inspire both young and old, he emphasized that it's important for different cultures to be represented and celebrated, especially during the holidays. Henning said this production is meant to give hope.

You can check out the "Black Nativity" starting Dec. 9-12 at the Marcus Center. Tickets range from $5-45.
