Scream n’ Stream, a drive-thru haunt that sprang up last year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, is back but at a new location—trading Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures in Kissimmee for the Oviedo Mall.

For this year’s attraction, the team went with theme centered around clowns versus zombie. The entire thing is set in a secret military base called Station 5, and visitors will tasked with transporting a package to keep the zombies and clowns from breaking out and wreaking havoc on the world.

“We wanted to make sure that it was a story that you were part of,” said Patrick Braillard, who serves as Scream n’ Stream’s head show writer. “The story can’t happen without your participation, going through and experiencing everything that we’ve got for you. It’s not a haunted house, it’s a haunted adventure.”

A section of the mall’s parking lot has been transformed into a drivable maze of more than a dozen scenes, each with zombies, clowns and other characters. The scenes also have lighting, audio effects and props to bring the story to life. Dividers have also been set up to keep visitors from seeing what’s ahead.

There’s also a new level of interactivity. With the addition of laser tag guns, visitors will be able to join on the action. While drivers navigate through the maze, passengers can shoot at various targets in some scenes.

And the drive-thru haunt isn’t the only part of experience. Visitors are encouraged to make a night of it with other separately-priced offerings at the mall. District Eat & Play offer games and escape rooms, while Oviedo Brewing Company is spot to grab dinner.

Scream n’ Stream runs select nights Sept. 17 through Oct. 31. As for the cost, tickets start at $47, but that’s per car not per person. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.
