ORLANDO, Fla. — Disney World is making changes to the way visitors purchase Disney Genie+, its paid skip-the-line service.

What You Need To Know

  • Disney World to change the way Genie+ service can be purchased

  • Starting June 8, it will no longer be offered as a pre-arrival option

  • Instead of buying the service in advance, guests will only be able to purchase it the day of their visit

  • Disney Genie+ launched last fall as a paid "skip-the-line" service

Starting June 8, the service will no longer be offered as a pre-arrival ticket add-on for the rest of 2022 through 2023. That means guests will not be able to buy the service ahead of their visits.

Instead, Genie+ will only be available for purchase the day of a guest's visit in the My Disney Experience app, according to a post on the official Disney Parks Blog.

The change does not affect visitors who have already purchased the service in advance, as they will still be able to use it on their visits.

The service will also be “subject to availability,” according to the blog post, indicating that Disney might limit sales of Genie+ on certain days.

Disney also reiterated that it expects that guests who purchase Genie+ will experience, on average, two to three attractions per day.

“We’re focused on delivering the best possible guest experience, and this adjustment will help manage the incredibly strong demand our guests have shown for Disney Genie+,” Disney said in the blog post.

Genie+ launched at Disney World last fall, replacing the complimentary FastPass+ service. With the service, visitors can bypass the standby line at select attractions using Lightning Lanes. It’s priced at $15 per ticket per day.
