VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — School Board members in Volusia County voted to change the district's face mask policy during a special school board meeting on Tuesday night.

Masks will be required in schools starting on Tuesday, Sept. 7, the day after Labor Day.

A grace period will extend until Monday, Sept. 13, for parents to get a doctor's note if they want to opt their student out.

The policy will be in effect until Friday, Oct. 15, when the school board will re-evaluate based on current coronavirus case numbers in the community.
