OPD intends to use the $46,000 grant to reduce the number of accidents involving pedestrians and bicyclists in the Orlando area, says the department.

The funds will go toward on-street education and enforcement measures to target unsafe behavior from motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians, according to a news release.

The grant is in effect from Dec. 4, 2017 to May 15, 2018, and measures will be enforced from early morning to late afternoon.

OPD has already been engaged in pedestrian safety initiatives such as "Best Foot Forward" since 2012.
