MELBOURNE, Fla. — Health First and UCF students handed out limited-edition stuffed bears to children at Central Florida hospitals, including Holmes Regional Medical Center in Brevard County.

  • UCF nursing students hand out bears to young patients
  • They hoped it would brighten the children's hospital stays
  • Bears were dressed in UCF nursing school uniforms

The bears were dubbed Knight Nurse Bears.

UCF nursing students said the toys brighten kids' days.

"There are so many kids of different ages, and no matter what, whoever is in there with them, if their parents or other staff members, it brings a smile to their face and brightens up their day," UCF student David Frederick said.

The bears are wearing scrubs modeled after the ones UCF nursing students wear.
