ORLANDO, Fla. — The mother of a 5-year-old girl who's the subject of a Florida Amber Alert has stopped cooperating in the investigation, the Jacksonville sheriff says.

Taylor Rose Williams was last seen near the 600 block of Ivy Street in Jacksonville, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Wednesday. Taylor is described as about 3 feet tall and 50 pounds. She was wearing purple and pink short-sleeved pajamas.
During a news conference Thursday, Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said mother Brianna Williams has provided inconsistent statements, and some of those statements led law enforcement to investigate a second location in connection to Taylor's disappearance.
Investigators speaking with Brianna Williams pointed out "inconsistencies in her statements," and that's when she stopped cooperating, the sheriff said.
"Everyone else we've talked to has been cooperative," he said.
Sheriff Williams wants anyone who's seen the mom and child together in Jacksonville in the past six months to contact the Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500 or email JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org.
"We don't know the last time someone saw her alive," Sheriff Williams said.
Brianna Williams has not been arrested or charged at this time, and the sheriff declined to call her a person of interest. The Amber Alert is remaining active, he said.
On Wednesday, authorities issued an Amber Alert after deputies were told that Taylor was last seen in her home around midnight. By the morning, Taylor was not in her room, and the back door of the home was unlocked, deputies reported.
The FDLE had initially issued a Missing Child Alert for Taylor. It was changed to an Amber Alert just after 11 a.m.
In both types of alerts, investigators have concluded that the child's life is in danger. The FDLE says a Missing Child Alert "may evolve into an Amber Alert" investigators think the child was also abducted. Amber Alerts are not used for runaway or family-abduction cases, FDLE says, unless the child's life is in immediate danger.
