SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — After days of being placed on a precautionary boil water alert in Southeastern Seminole County, residents can safely turn on the tap since the county's Environmental Services Department lifted the advisory on Wednesday morning.

The alert went into effect last Saturday after a brief interruption of power at the Southeast Service Area-Southeast Regional Water Treatment Plant.
There is. The generator switchgear did not successfully start the generators following a power outage at our Southeastern Regional Water Treatment Facility at 6:00 AM Saturday morning. While the generators are tested routinely, they failed to function properly Saturday morning.

While power was restored and the water distribution system flushed, environmental services staff took bacterial samples of the water supplies as a precautionary measure.
According to Seminole County Environmental Services, the bacterial samples collected Monday came back negative. A second sample was collected on Tuesday, and it appears those came back negative, too, since the alert was lifted on Wednesday.
During the alert, officials urged residents to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes as a precaution.
