ORLANDO, Fla. — MegaCon Orlando returns to the Orange County Convention Center this week with celebrity guests, panels, shopping and more.

The fan convention, which usually draws thousands of people to the area, was canceled last year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here are a few things to know about this year’s event:

Face Masks Required

MegaCon organizers say that attendees ages 2 and older will be required to wear face masks at the event.

“An approved mask is required to be worn covering the nose and mouth at all times except while eating and drinking while stationary,” according to a notice on the MegaCon website.

MegaCon, as part of its COVID-19 guidelines, is also asking guests to wash their hands often, maintain social distancing where possible and stay home if they are not feeling well.

Celebrity Guests Still on the Lineup

Although MegaCon had some cancellations, there are still a number of celebrity guests still scheduled to attend the event. The lineup includes John Stamos, Dave Coulier and Bob Saget from “Full House;” Ray Fisher from “Justice League;” Giancarlo Esposito from “The Mandalorian;” Kate Cassidy from “Arrow;” Christopher Eccleston from “Doctor Who;” and Michael Rooker from “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

A current lineup is available on the MegaCon website.

Plenty of Merchandise to Buy

As with past years, MegaCon will offer more than 400,000 square feet of shopping space during the event. More than 1,000 retailers will be selling everything from graphic novels and comic books to toys and memorabilia.

Panels and Workshops

Beyond the celebrity appearances and shopping opportunities, MegaCon is also offering panels and workshops that guests can enjoy during the event. The panels cover a wide range of topics, including 3D printing, prop making, independent filmmaking, and more. The schedule also includes family programming such as story time.

MegaCon Tickets are Still Available

Tickets are still available for the event. Single-day tickets for adults range in price from $25 for Thursday to $60 for Saturday and $50 for Sunday. There are also four-day passes available for $115. Premium and VIP packages are sold out.

MegaCon Orlando runs Aug. 12 through Aug. 15 at the Orange County Convention Center.
