ORLANDO, Fla. — It was a busy four days at this year’s MegaCon Orlando.

What You Need To Know

The event, which wrapped up on Sunday, drew tens of thousands of fans to the Orange County Convention Center.

More than 140,000 fans showed up this year, shattering the event’s attendance records, according to organizers.

“MegaCon Orlando 2022 brought a high-energy weekend filled with enhanced programming and exciting celebrity encounters,” Fan Expo HQ Vice President Andrew Moyes said in a statement. “From cosplay contests, gaming tournaments and themed meetups, MegaCon brought record-breaking numbers of the fan community together.”

Fans had a chance to meet some of their favorite celebrities, including Brendan Fraser, Giancarlo Esposito and Nathan Fillon. “Lord of the Rings” actors Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan reunited for a special Q&A.

The event, the largest of its kind in the southeast, is also expected to have an economic impact. In years past, MegaCon has generated millions of dollars for the local economy, with attendees spending money for hotels and restaurants in and around the convention center.

For those who missed this year’s conventions, the dates have already been set for next year’s MegaCon. It is scheduled to take place March 30-April 2, 2023 at the Orange County Convention Center.
